The Sacred Heart Robo Rebels is the name of the Robotics Club at Sacred Heart Catholic School. We have two different, age-based competition programs that we offer to Sacred Heart students.
Our FLL team is currently comprised of 9 to 14 year old students who work together in teams to design, build, and program a LEGO robot to compete in theme-based, mission-driven, obstacle course challenges. The partnership between FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) and The LEGO Group has created a powerful program that helps over 125,000 young people in North America discover the fun in science and technology while building self-confidence, knowledge, and valuable employment and life skills. Our advanced team will participate in the B.E.S.T. (Boosting Engineering Science and Technology) competition designed for students in grades 9-12 to compete in alliances of four teams on a specified playing field. Each school is provided kits of equipment and parts, a set of game rules, and is given six weeks to design, build, and test a small Radio/Controlled (R/C) robot that outperforms other robots. Winning teams from local competition sites advance to regional championship sites. For more information about BEST visit http://www.bestinc.org/
